‘Replay’, Nikolaas Demoen
For the exhibition Replay, artist Nikolaas Demoen invited 14 graphic designers to design a “post-facto” poster with images from his exhibitions, book presentations and residencies of the past 7 years in museums and exhibition spaces. By exhibiting these posters, past, volatile events are put in replay, and moreover, the artistic autonomy of a printed poster is highlighted.

Claptrap
Theatre slang, c. 1730, derived from clap and trap
I. A trick or device to gain applause
II. Empty verbiage or nonsense

What we believe in is more determined and manipulated by our culture than we would like to believe. Claptrap plays with the point when our beliefs turn out to be nonsense. Farfetched, irrational, extravagantly overdone but beautiful nonsense. (2015)
